The Enchanting Mountains of Northern Utah

hidden lake in the Wasatch mountains, Utah

When you adventure in the groves of aspen trees high up in the altitudes of the Wasatch and Uinta mountains of Northern Utah, it is hard not to fall in love the surroundings. With the mountains colored green and lush in the summertime, vibrant red and orange in the autumn, and blanketed in beautiful, peaceful, white snow in the winter time, it is always the perfect season to plan an escape into this perfect wilderness.

Places To Stay

There are many hotels available in and around the gorgeous Utah mountains. A few of our suggestions include:

Outdoor Adventures

One of the funnest ways to tour these mountains is by ATV. ATV’s allow you to get away from civilization and find yourself alone on a mountain top surrounded by bugling elk and pouncing mule deer. You can cover ground a lot faster than hiking, and can reach places that many other types of vehicles cannot.  Besides the ATV trails, the mountains are easily accessible with lots of hiking and horse trails winding through the landscapes.

Utah is also home to some of the most beautiful lake and waterfall hikes. Just in the Wasatch and Uinta mountains alone, there are hundreds of pristine, isolated mountain lakes to hike to. Simply grab a day pack and go hiking for the day, or pack a technical backpack for a backpacking trip of a lifetime.

Another fun water activity is to take relaxing floats down the several rivers in the region. No matter what adventure you pursue, you are going to discover stunning landscapes and beautiful scenery that are hard to match anywhere else.

Booming Cities and Quiet Mountain Towns

One of the great things about Utah is how close the mountains are to civilization. In the shadows of the mountains, lies booming cities like Salt Lake City and Provo, as well as small mountain towns such as Heber City and Oakley. The small towns in the large valleys offer beautiful views of the mountains from horse ranches and farms. The big cities offer lots of other activities to keep you busy.

Disneyland Vacation Done Right

This is a guest post from Brandon Doyle, a travel blogger on Twitter.

I was born and raised in northern California. I am the oldest of five children. We went to Disneyland a lot growing up. Those vacations were some of the best experiences I had as a kid. I am now married with 3 kids of my own. My wife and I thought it was time to take our kids to Disneyland for the first time.

When I first looked up Disneyland ticket prices, I was a little surprised. They’ve really jumped up in recent years :/. The hotels near Disneyland are also very expensive, and provide little room for a family of five (we were also making this trip with a few married siblings, so we wanted something bigger). I began looking around for house options. That’s when I found Anaheim Vacation House company.

Anaheim Vacation House was definitely the right choice. Their service is impeccable. The location of the one we stayed in was perfect (~10 minutes from Disneyland). The house was spacious and beautiful. And the backyard was magical. We stayed there in the middle of January, and the weather was 75 degrees each day. The heated pool didn’t hurt either :). Here is the Anaheim vacation rental we stayed in.

I would (and will) stay there again, and again, and again. Being together with family in a big house is better than staying in separate, crammed hotel rooms. We had so much fun for the week we were there. It was easily the best family vacation I’ve ever had. If anyone is interested in staying there, use the coupon code DoyleG25 for $25/night off any house!
